This guide shows you how to add equipment IDs, such as license plates, to many shipments at once in Movement so that you don't have to open each shipment separately. It's written for carriers.

An equipment ID identifies the vehicle or device that moves a shipment, for example a license plate. When a shipment has no equipment ID, Movement lists it in the Missing equipment IDs view. You download those shipments in a file, add the IDs, and upload the file to update all of them in one step.

Before you begin

Before you start, make sure you meet these prerequisites:

• You have a Movement account for your carrier organization.
• You have at least one shipment that has no equipment ID.
• You have Microsoft Excel or a compatible spreadsheet application to edit the file.

Upload equipment IDs

To upload equipment IDs for multiple shipments:

1. Log in to Movement at movement.project44.com. If your organization uses the European instance, log in at movement.eu.project44.com.
2. In the navigation menu, select Visibility, then select Shipments. The shipment list opens.

3. Select the arrow next to the view name, then select Missing equipment IDs. The list shows only shipments that have no equipment ID.

4. Select the three-dot menu next to the view name, then select Add equipment IDs. A pane opens.

5. In the pane, download the file. The file lists your shipments with missing equipment IDs.
6. In the file, enter an equipment ID type and an equipment ID value for each shipment, using the values in Equipment ID types. Save the file.
7. In the pane, upload the file you saved.
8. Select Apply changes. Movement validates the data and updates your shipments, and a message tells you the update is in progress.
9. Review the message that reports how many shipments were updated and how many were not. The Preview section lists any shipments that still have missing data.
10. If shipments need more work, correct your saved file and upload it again, or select Redownload template under the file upload box to get a pre-populated file.

Equipment ID types

Enter one of these accepted values in the Equipment ID Type field. The type must match the equipment ID value you provide in the same row.

Tip: If you don't have every ID yet, add the ones you have and upload the file. Movement applies your changes and highlights the remaining empty cells and errors, so you can return to them later.

Verify the result

To confirm the upload worked, check the message that appears after you select Apply changes. It shows the number of updated shipments. The Only show rows with empty cells or errors toggle is on by default, so the Preview section shows only the rows that need attention. If the section is empty, every shipment in the file was updated.
